About: North Middlesex Hospital

What I liked

This has been, by far the most worst hospital i have ever visited. When having a baby you should be treated with respect, cared for properly and not neglected. I went to visit my aunty. She just had a emergency sizerian, with major complications. I walked into the room to found her lying flat on her back, very uncomfortably. Outside the weather was very hot, one of the most hottest days of the year and she was left in a room, baking hot with all the windows shut, wasn't even given a drink and no fan provided. The baby was dressed in a baby grow, wrapped in a very thick blanket and the poor babys hair was wet due to the baby sweating and the poor baby was left in its feces all day. The mother could barley move and the midwives couldnt even bebovard to help her. The midwives in this hospital has no time for their patients, they are lazy people. They are not there because they love their job, they are only there because of there wages at the end of the month. This is not the first she had a very bad experience in this hospital and most of the mothers that go to this hospital also hates their birthing experience. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone, Haven't got a clue how the midwives in this hospital got their jobs. Mothers and baby's get treated like animals. Even the hospital environment is nasty, its like walking into a prison with rude security as well. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone. I will be taking my issues further.

What could be improved

Yes, get midwives that are there because they love their job, throw out all the old ones, ones that are there because they got to do a free course at university. Also the managers has got to be useless as well to allow their ward to get in such a state, with so many unhappy mothers. The midwives should learn to smile, even though they could be under pressure but being a midwife is all about multitasking. Learn to be friendly to the patients and their visitors. Loads needs to be improved!!!

We are sorry to hear that you felt your aunt's experience of the North Mid was a negative one. Improving the experience of our patients is the number one priority for the hospital and we will use your feedback to improve the service patients in that department receive. The patient advice and liaison service would be glad to take any further comments you wish to provide about your care and can be contacted by email at pals@nmh.nhs.uk or by telephone on 020 8887 4172.
