"japonica ward"

About: King George Hospital / Older people's healthcare

after 2 weeks in queens hospital after a minor fall my mother in law (82) was left in an awful condition. before going into queens she could walk unaided, independent and able to look after herself. on leaving queens she could no longer walk, move position in bed/chair, was incontinent and unable to eat or drink without help. i was lucky to get her admitted to japonica ward in king georges. within 1 week she could walk, move about without help, was eating and drinking without help and was back to being the person she was before her stay in queens. The staff at king georges talked to her, gave her plenty of excercise and stimulation, all of which was lacking at queens. She is no longer incontinent, and will soon be able to go back home. we as a family could not praise the staff more on japonica ward. without them, and their dedication and compassion, my mother in law would have been left a shell of her former self.

Thank you all for your hard work and dedication.

"Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your mother’s experience. I am sorry to hear the concerns that you have raised regarding the care she received in Queen's Hospital. If you wish to discuss this further you can contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service, their contact telephone number is 01708 435 454 or alternatively you can email them, PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk.

I am pleased to hear that the team on Japonica Ward treated your mother with such compassion and that the care she received was good, as this service is provided by North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) I will pass your comments over to them. Once again thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

Kind Regards
