I was told in March that I would need my spleen removed and that I would have to attend the Royal Surrey County Hospital to have the op. The fist date I was given was the 22nd March. This was cancelled by the hospital. I was then given the 5th April. That was cancelled by the hospital and i was given the 19th April. I attended on the 19th but again this was cancelled while i was dressed in hospital clothes and ready for the op.
I was given the 27th April and had the op on that day.
I spent 6 days in hospital and cannot fault the care i received.
I was discharged on the 2nd May and waited for a follow up appointment. I was alternatively told the 12th June, the 19th June, then the 14th June because the surgeon who did my op wanted to see me in person
I attended on the 14th only to be told that the surgeon wasn't working that day but that i would be seem by one of their team. After an hour of waiting i left as i had a 40 minute journey home before starting a late shift at my job. I rang today, 19th June, to ask if i would get another appointment. My case notes apparently say I was seen on the 14th which is absolutely not true, i dont understand why this lie was put on my notes. now have a date of the 5th July.
Apart from the operation itself, i have found dealing with the RHCS to be frustrating in the extreme, with repeated cancellations and an apparent lack.of care. Hopefully i will be seen on the 5th July.
"Surgery was fine, after care shocking"
