"I was first referred to rotherham ..."

About: Rotherham Hospital

What I liked

I was first referred to rotherham hospital by my doctor in november 2009. This is regarding a large sack of fluid under the joint of one of my toes.

Since then i have had a few appointments, but i am constantly waiting for letters for following on appointments .

i was told that the lump could be cancerous and was then left a over a month with no letter appointment nothing so i had to take a day off work to visit my gp who had to contact rotherham hospital to get things moveing. Because of this i was told i would be referred to the royal hallamshire hospital in sheffield to a bone tumour clinic. I heard nothing again for a good few weeks so i called the royal hallamshire hospital and they had no record of me being referred there, so i rang rotherham hospital and spoke to my doctors secretary who told me my papers were still on his desk!

After 9 months they have informed me the sack of fuid is a just a cyst wich is a relief but the cyst is surounded by a very large sack of fluid to the point that my toe doesnt touch the floor, the skin is blue and bruised with the expanding caused by the fluid and it is constantly burning .

i was told i would recieve a letter with an appointment with a surgeon two weeks ago.....still no letter. I called them 2 days ago and was told my papers are still on the doctors desk!!! and he is on holiday, also he is deciding whether to put me on a waiting list...9 months later!

I visited the doctor yesterday (another day off work) and he agreed that it shouldnt take this long and is hoping to get things moving again, so fingers crossed, This has been a very stressful experience and

absoloutly the worst and most dis-organised service i have ever recieved and i am still recieving.

What could be improved

i feel the overall organisation could have been alot better.

Anything else?

I am still walking on a huge sack of liquid my toe is burning its sore and swollen and i still do not seem any closer to having the cyst removed
