"Broken collar bone"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Had a crash broken my collar bone.

The fracture clinic told me I would maybe need surgery. So it went under review I was told to fast incase I needed to get fitted in for surgery.

They then decided they are going to leave it and see "if" it heals on it own. It could take 7 months and not heal and could need surgery anyway.

This was from a phone call 3 days after I had been to a&e.

I had a surgeon call me saying they would call me back with an appointment for this week so I can get second x-ray to see if bone is healing.

I'm now on my fourth day waiting on this phone call almost as if I've been forgot about.

I feel like I'm getting pammed off

I just don't get how a bone can heal if it's not joined. Feel like they are just telling me anything.

Dear Sanchez327,

I'm sorry to hear about your crash and the resulting injury. Every case is different and surgery is not always the best option as you've been told.

I can only apologise for the lack of communication with you to discuss and agree the treatment that is right for you. I'm keen to look into this as a priority and I would urge you to contact my Patient Affairs Manager Yvonne Ross on Tel No: 01698 366558 to provide your details so that I can look into this.

I hope you've managed to remain comfortable whilst waiting to hear if surgery is the best treatment for your injury.

Kind regards
