"My 8 week old son was admitted ..."

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

What I liked

My 8 week old son was admitted in April this year after having developed group b strepe. I cannot stress enough how well the staff on acorn ward conducted their duties. Our son was admitted and was seen straight away by nursing staff and doctors who were waiting for us and promptly conducted the necessary tests and started a course of treatment. If they hadn't our little boy may not be with us now. My son and I spent a week in hospital and we were both well cared for the entire time. Words enough cannot express our gratitude.

What could be improved

It would have been nice to have been able to wash my clothes on the ward, I understand that there was once a working washing machine for the parents but it was now broken.

Anything else?

The parking at the hospital costs an absolute fortune, if the parking operators took into consideration longer stays and offered a discount.

Thank you for your comments, I have shared them with all of the paediatric team.

Regarding washing your clothes, I am sorry that you were not given the correct information. Unfortunately, we do not have a washing machine for parent use for washing childrens' clothes when they are inpatients. Parents have to send their clothing home to relatives to wash as we are not able to use the same machine for inpatient and visitor use.

I hope your little one is well now.
