"Some staff were very sweet to ..."

About: East Surrey Hospital

What I liked

Some staff were very sweet to my Father (one in particular.........a trainee who was rushing around doing most of the work and also stayed after her shift finished to sort out the bed sores on my Fathers heels.

What could be improved

The nurses (who are paid to do this) could have made sure my Father who had just had an op for a fracture of the neck of femur at 87 had a water bottle or other things he needed had them, instead of having a go at him and taking away bottles. Also, when due to the staff, a cup of tea was spilt on his bed, he would not have been left in a chair with nothing on him below his waist, just a blanket over him to protect his dignity! To be left despite the staff being asked if they could help him into bed. Although, I discovered when I rested my hand on the bed, the mattress was WET!!!!! but I didn't dare say anything as some of the staff were so un approachable or nasty I was worried just how they would treat my Father once I had left.

Anything else?

My Father had to hide bottles because if he did ring his bell during the night because he wanted to go to the toilet he got nothing but anger from staff on AMU especially! If it hadn't have been for another patient that was 'mobile' on the ward which Dad was on he would have been ignored totally. Thank goodness for that patient. He was so brilliant !!! Oh sorry, that should have been a praise of the staff. I can't do that.
