"What an experience, worst hospital ..."

About: Leeds General Infirmary

What I liked

What an experience, worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune to need help from. Staff generally unhelpful, obtuse, and sarcastic.

When I asked for help from a nurse was generally ignored, when I did get some sort of response from the nursing staff, all of them responded sarcastically, or did not even bother to help at all, just looked at you as if you are scum and walked away.

I could not get any information from the staff, waited 2 days for test results, the only way I got them was to get the nurse to phone a doctor to provide me the results. Apparently it s your responsibility to get your test results from the doctor, and not bother to ask a nurse to get the information for you. So if there is something wrong with your results or you may not be able to speak to a doctor. You could be in a lot of trouble.

If you need to go into hospital, don't use the LGI, go elsewhere !!!!!!!!!!!

One word to describe the hospital – Useless (Cleaned up response)

What could be improved

Get Nurses who give a dam about the patients that they have been charged with the care of, and spend less time on their mobile phones sending text messages.

Anything else?

Avoid - Go elsewhere.

If you are unfortunate to have to recieve care from the LGI, Expect to be treated like Scum, and the best of luck to you, your gonna need it.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback (via the NHS Choices website) your recent experience at the Leeds General Infirmary.

I was sorry to learn you found the staff unhelpful and that you found it difficult to get information from staff.

If you inform us which Ward/area of the Leeds General Infirmary you were treated in, we can feedback your comments. Alternatively if you would like to discuss this in more detail, you may wish to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on freephone number 0800 0525270 who can investigate this further for you.

We will pass on your comments to the Patient Relations Manager at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
