I was referred to this service by my GP. I received 2 phone calls from the same member of staff who diagnosed me as suffering from severe depression and anxiety and at risk to myself. Because of the circumstances of my depression (I had been a victim of violet crime and police bullying) I was put forward for counselling rather than CBT. This process took over 2 months with no support other than an email giving me the contact details of Samaritans, CAB and a couple of others incase I felt overly suicidal.
After that time I received a phone call from the same member of staff saying I had been rejected for counselling as I was deemed too emotionally unstable because the situation with the police was still ongoing. They told me I had been struck me off their list, referred back to my GP and that I should call the Samaritans or another charity if I felt bad. The member of staff was aggressive on the phone, unsupportive and clearly wanted to be shot of me. I was left feeling severely distressed and betrayed, this on top of the depression and anxiety that I was, and am, still suffering from.
To be clear, I have never suffered from depression or anxiety before in my life or made any claim on the NHS in any form. I have been a professional and tax payer for over 20 years.
