I visited 9th June 2017 at 16 weeks pregnant, expecting to see only the gynaecology consultant, however they were joined by the cardiology consultant. I have a heart valve defect and have had several miscarriages in the past, so I knew I was considered "high risk", but certainly wasn't expecting the fantastically thorough and unified treatment I received. I was examined, given the opportunity to discuss my anxieties and every aspect was talked through with me. Despite it being clear that the department was busy, I didn't feel rushed and they really listened to me and put me at ease. I was even given a Doppler test to hear the baby's heartbeat, so that I could be reassured (the nurse was delighted to find a palpable beat and they were lovely). I came away from the hospital with a huge smile on my face and felt very comforted in the knowledge that I will be in good hands for the rest of my pregnancy. Thank you to everyone I saw for your excellent service, you are all an absolute credit to City Hospitals Sunderland.
"Excellent, cohesive service"
