My wife took me to A&E with breathing difficulties and a fast heart rate. I was soon in ICU, where I stayed for 16 days, then a couple of days in HDU followed by a few days in C4, the respiratory ward recovering from pneumonia. I don't remember anything after walking in to A&E until I was moved from C4 to A10, the rehabilitation ward some three weeks later. After a week or so here, I was discharged.
My family tell me that my care was excellent, the staff helpful and attentive, and the wonderful diary the staff kept of my time in ICU fills in some blanks for me!
When I became conscious and started eating, the food was excellent - hot and really tasty.
