"No diagnosis or treatment"

About: St John's Hospital / Adolescent Psychiatry

(as a service user),

I think that the CAMHS at St John's Hospital have been absolutely disgraceful and negligent in their care to me. I suffer from Autistic Spectrum Disorder and for over 10 years I've been suffering from incidents where I talk to myself and in my mind, I think I am someone else doing something that I’m not. I do this in my bedroom and my GP believes I may be suffering from delusional disorder as there is no hallucinations when this is happening. I'm also suffering from serious sleeping problems where I sleep in the day and not in the night.

The CAMHS Department believe this is all part of my autism but I disagree because I've never heard of an autistic spectrum disorder where hallicinations, talking to myself, thinking I'm a different person in my head and sleep problems are all part of autism. They have provided no diagnosis, no treatment and one of the Clinical Psychologists did actually think a neuropsychology assessment and anxiety management as I'm scared of water would be beneficial but I had a call the next day from a clinician to say they won't be doing this and I've been bumped off to an employment transition service.

I've received no diagnosis, no treatment for insomnia or delusional disorder. No support at all. They've given me three assessments and done absolutely nothing for me. NHS Lothian St John's Hospital CAMHS Clinic is the worst CAMHS department that I’ve experienced.

Like I said, no effort has been given to diagnose a psychosis condition like delusional disorder. Simple sleeping problems like insomnia haven't been diagnosed either. I think the reason for this is due to the huge waiting lists at CAMHS West Lothian which makes me think that CAMHS can no longer serve patients safely so they get them to a triage assessment within 1-3 weeks and then bump them to another service without diagnosis to avoid placing them on the treatment lists.

My GP has referred me to Edinburgh CAMHS for a diagnostic assessment with a consultant psychiatrist and I hope this will be better but NHS Lothian haven't provided me with any apology, no proper investigation and no assessment with a consultant psychiatrist.

I can confirm that after months and months of waiting and two complaint responses from NHS Lothian which were inadequate. I did get the help I needed..... in adult mental health services and I am now on anti-psychotic medication to assist me with my mental health difficulties.
