About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

I have Addison's Disease and was admitted to A & E in the early hours of Monday 5th June suffering from labyrinthitis and a gastric infection and although I thanked everyone at the time I would like to once again thank the Doctor, staff and Ambulance staff for their care of me. I did not feel afraid at anytime as everyone I met introduced themselves and explained what they were doing and were so kind. Many thanks to you all. Avril Mason

Dear Avril

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience when you attended our Emergency Department (ED) in the early hours of Monday, 5th of June. I have passed your kind comments to the Matron and Sister of our ED so that they can share with the rest of the team.

I know that attending ED can be a very frightening and confusing time so was pleased to hear that our staff were able to make you feel at ease.

Dr Kate Granger founded the ‘hello my name is’ campaign when she attended hospital as a terminally ill cancer patient and observed that many of the staff looking after her did not introduce themselves before delivering her care. Kate very sadly died last year but the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust are proud to keep her campaign alive by asking all staff to introduce themselves before delivering care, so it is great to hear that our staff introduced themselves and explained to you what they were doing.

I hope that you are feeling much better and wish you all the best for the future. Thank you again for taking the time to get in touch.
