About: Bridlington & District Hospital

Anything else?

On Sunday 27th June around 5.15, myself and my friend took my other friend to the Minor Injuries Unit of Bridlington Hospital, where I have never experienced as much an unprofessional attitude and such poor quality of work in my life.

After the Receptionist took details, we took a seat in a waiting area where we saw that 3 other patients were waiting, one of which in agonising pain, explained that they had been waiting two and a half hours already. It was three hours when the person finally got seen to. But all patients had to wait for a long length of time whilst they were no member of staff consulting even though they were 2 nurses within the unit.

The attitude of the Reception staff was appalling. When I asked the Receptionist how long we would be waiting, and explained that a patient had been waiting over two and a half hours they replied, “I don't know, it could take longer than 2 hours,” but said so in a very cocky and abrupt.

Two nurses kept on moving in and out of the waiting room and sitting in the Receptionist’s area. They kept on moving from this area into consultation rooms but no patients were in there. Whilst they were doing this all the patients were waiting, all of which in pain, one in extreme pain, for a Nurse to consult the patients. When finally consulted, three of the patients were sent to the ‘Children’s Room’, and I must add and none of these patients were children.
