"Over worked staff, more care and attention to..."

About: North Manchester General Hospital

I was admitted to hospital for suspected diverticulitis on Thursday 31/5/17.

Was initially given a bed on the surgical triage unit. Care and attention to detail were second to none.

Then I was moved at the weekend and my care from that point on deteriorated.

The Hospital hired locum staff on Saturday who could not be bothered. Care and attention to detail seemed to go out the window. Having to bring my own pain relief in because medication and pain were forgotten about. IV drip left connected despite being empty for hours, IV partially came out at 11.30pm and blood and saline all over my pj's and bed.. Then left like this until 6.30am the following day and Hospital food was disgusting.

Had to bring my own in as I could eat what was being offered.

Weekend doctors telling me one thing, then normal doctors not following through with procedures, not doing appropriate tests, being fobbed off and lied to. Put false information on my file saying I refused things when I had not.

Extremely mismanaged and treated appalling by staff.

My diagnosis went from diverticular disease to diverticulitis, to colitis to crohn's to a fob off catheter infection despite never dipping my urine once during the six days I was on the ward and not speaking to my urologist to make sure it was definitely a catheter issue and making sure I received the right treatment.

I was discharged with an enlarged spleen and severely anemic which Dr from the gastro team failed to treat or tell me about during my stay.

Wasn't until after I left that hospital that my own doctor highlighted that a hospital should not discharge a patient with an enlarged spleen and still being so poorly.

I would have died in that hospital if I had stayed in any longer because the mismanagement and attention to detail went out the window.

They've made huge mistakes.

Stay clear from Dr from the gastro team. The junior staff are incompetent and make them look like an idiot.
