What I liked
I had my baby at Kingsmill in August 2009 - I was really pleased that i was able to start out in the birthing pool and had a lovely midwife who made us feel really comfortable.
Unfortunately my baby didnt want things to go so smoothly so several hours later i came out of the pool and was in the delivery suite, we had a new midwife at this point who was equally lovely.
Eventually, despite the midwife trying all other options and giving us lots of oppertunity to have a natural birth it was decided that my baby had to be delivered quickly and i was moved to thetre.
A new midwife took over at this point and again, made us feel really comfortable despite the circumstances.
My baby was finally delived via forceps in thetre, i had to have a spinal block etc and my baby needed a bit of help when he arrived, but throughout all of it the midwifery care was excellent I was so happy with the care me, my baby and my husband recieved. Thank you!
What could be improved
The birthing unit itself is obviously very tired and ready for the new unit opening (which i hope will be before i decide to have another baby!!)
