"What century are GPs in? Making an appointment in Waltham Forest"

About: Waltham Forest PCT

(as the patient),

I've been trying to make an appointment with my new GP. The first time I rang it was engaged - the second time it rang unanswered for several minutes - and the third time, at 2:30 pm on a Thursday, it rang for a while then gave a very poorly recorded, barely audible, long, completely irrelevant message that didn't even tell me when the opening hours were. Not only are they only open when I'm at work, they aren't even open then! Or at all, as far as I can tell. All I want them to do is give me a time that the doctor can see me. If they can't answer the phone right now, I could leave a message, they could ring me back. Or I could send them an email and they could reply with the next few available. But they haven't even got an email address, or an answerphone! Even the least helpful person at any normal place of work has both. What century are they in? I can't even get communicate with them by any ordinary means, let alone see a doctor. Why is my time so unimportant? Why don't they have the most basic office services that everyone uses all day? When I'm at work I answer the phone, I deal with my emails, I even deal with a queue of trouble tickets. What's the problem? What am I supposed to do, write them a letter? This reminds me why I didn't even bother registering with a GP for several years.
