"We regularly observed staff going the extra mile"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Neurology

(as a relative),

My mum was admitted to LCH last month following previously undiagnosed epilepsy.

She was critically ill in ICU for four weeks, and then on Lancaster Ward for two weeks prior to discharge home. The nursing care she received from the ICU nurses was outstanding. Their care and compassion, which was extended to us as relatives at an incredibly difficult and frightening time was incredible. The atmosphere on the ward was professional, calm and caring and mum was treated with dignity, respect and we regularly observed staff going the extra mile to look after mum during some very challenging times.

Interaction with the doctors / consultants could have been better and we were frustrated by the lack of continuity with the consultant cover which led to us hearing different accounts of possible diagnoses, which added to our confusion and this is an area that we feel could really be improved upon. However that said our over-riding feeling is of gratitude and thanks for exceptional care and nursing mum back to health from being critically ill. Thank you.
