"It made such sense to be treated at home"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a service user),

I had an acute back spasm in bed at midnight. My husband dialled 999 and within an hour two para-medics arrived. They were very kind and professional and one of them said he knew the condition well and it reassured me. I was given an injection for the pain and it was explained that with back pain the analgesics needed to be taken absolutely regularly. It made such sense to be treated at home rather than to be taken into A & E. I have steadily improved and am now being helped by an osteopath. I think more people should be trained for this role.

Dear Petronella,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I hope you are recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in your son's care, however to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453 831 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa
