"Respected and cared for"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / General surgery

Came in for a managed miscarrage procudure, could not fault the dignity and respect I was treated with before during and after.. was treated as that the staff on Elm ward could not do enough even though they were exceptionally busy, were there to listen and talk after the procedure especially the nurse assigned to look after me. My partner was allowed in the ward for the whole day., was not made to feel as if he was not welcome. The care as I was going under anasetic I could not fault, have had prevous scary experiences under anasetic but this time was all calm and relaxed and was talked to all the way through me dropping off and I seemed to be continuing the conversation when I woke up. Could not fault the care given and the sensitivity that was shown. Many thanks to all for making a upsetting experience more bare-able.

Thank you for sharing your story at such a distressing time for you personally. I am very pleased that you and your partner came away from this difficult experience feeling that you were well supported and cared for and I am sure that the staff concerned will be gratified to hear that they helped you through this upsetting experience. I hope that you are now feeling a little better although it will take you some time to recover from what has happened. I will share your comments with all the staff involved in your care and I wish you well for the future.
