On the 11th May 2017, I was admitted to Ward B1 for hip replacement surgery. I was obviously a little bit worried, not about the operation itself, but just the whole hospital experience.
Well, I need never have worried.
From the moment I was admitted to the ward, staff explained everything to me, the lay out of the ward, bathrooms, toilets etc, and also explained the routines.
I was visited by the anaesthetist and my surgeon before my op, and procedures explained, and given the chance to ask any questions.
Porters took to me the theatre at 2pm, and were so friendly and put me at my ease. The anaesthetist came and once again explained what was going to happen.
Next thing I knew it was 4:15pm and I was in recovery, where a lovely nurse was monitoring me.
I was taken back up to the ward, and staff made certain I was comfortable.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, as soon as help was needed they were there. They all went about their work with cheerful dispositions, and never made anyone in my ward feel like we were any trouble.
Physios came and assisted me next day, and provided lots of information , all done in a caring manner.
I can honestly say that I have never in my life known such kindness and helpfulness, from the domestic staff, right through all the staff teams, to the theatre staff and my surgeon.
I did everything that was asked of me, and was discharged after 48 hours. Amazing.
From the moment I entered that operating theatre, my pain went, and I am now pain free, which is so unbelievable. I at least expected some discomfort from the site of the op, but I have had nothing, and am doing so well.
Our NHS has to be the finest, and Russells Hall hospital rates so highly in my mind.
Thank you so much to everyone who cared and supported me throughout my procedure, I am truly in awe of you all.
"Wonderful Treatment"
