I gave birth to my second child on the 1st of May.
The care I received pre and during Labour was absolutely amazing, my midwife and all staff were fantastic and showed they really cared about me and my baby, I couldn't fault a thing.
Unfortunately the care I received post delivery was not the same.
I stayed in hospital 2 nights, In the early hours of the morning, on the second day I started to bleed very heavily and passed a very large blood clot, this was taken away to be checked and I was told a doctor would need to see me due to the size of the clot passed.
A few hours later I was told the doctor would not be seeing me and it was just one of those things and normal.
I was then discharged eventhough more clots were passed and told if this happened while at home I would need to phone the Labour ward back.
An hour after returning home I passed yet more sizable clots and phoned the Labour ward as advised.
I was told to monitor my blood loss for 45 minutes and call back, when ringing back I was told by a different midwife that I needed to go to A&E.
I then had to take a newborm baby with no immune system with me to A&E as I was breastfeeding which I found very upsetting.
I was again advised this was normal, but I should have been seen at maternity, I explained it was maternity who sent me to A&E.
Following more blood and clot loss over the following weeks and despite getting these checked and no tests being given,
I was taken by ambulance to hospital due to significant blood loss, to be told I had contracted an infection, the whole experience was terrifying as I was home alone with a newborn baby and toddler while Sat in a pool of my own blood waiting for an ambulance.
This whole experiance I feel could have been avoided if my symptoms had actually been investigated and the appropriate treatment been given while on the labour ward instead of just being told without actual tests and checks that it was normal.
"Excellent pre care and delivery, disappointing..."
