"Ladywell Unit"

During recent appointments and procedure at the Ladywell Unit in the Gynaecology Outpatient and Petter Ward sections I was incredibly impressed at how hard all the staff worked to ensure things happened quickly and efficiently. Everyone was very very pleasant, helpful and positive. All of the sections worked together to ensure the blood tests, pre-op assessment and preparation were in place under a short turnaround time. The staff/nurses were also particularly accommodating as I had a holiday planned in between the appointment and the surgery which limited my availability for the required procedures.

The doctor and consultant explained everything thoroughly and took into account my concerns/priorities. Both were patient with me and appeared very competent yet approachable.

On the day of the operation the nurses were welcoming, cheerful, explained events and kept me informed of progress. The anaesthetist was also confident and personable, their team kept me at ease through the process through interesting and involved conversation.

In three separate departments I had nurses tell me they genuinely enjoyed what they were doing in their work. On no occasion did the response or the enthusiasm seem at all forced. In all this I was aware that I was only one of several patients present that day and that this was routine work for those involved.
