"very poor diagnosis and communication"

About: The Maidstone Hospital / Ophthalmology

Having spent the last year going back and forth to the cornea clinic only to find out that all my fears about the Doctors and the Consultant were totally founded, it was obvious to me that the majority did not read my notes correctly as i was given conflicting information.

My last appointment was the last straw as when i received the copy of the letter sent to my GP proved what i thought, the doctor had informed my doctor that i had cataracts in both my eyes, wrong, my right eye cataract was done in May last year, also, they stated that the scar tissue in my left eye was due to a trauma when i was a child, wrong, i was in my late twenties, they also put that they wished me well with my private appointment, i told the doctor i was going to Moorfields for a second opinion. The consultant wrongly put larger punctual plugs in my left eye as the consultant said that the original small punctual plugs had fallen out! The consultant didn't look properly as they were still in thus causing me a problem with my left eye continually running for 8 weeks. Saying that i only saw the consultant once for all of four minutes, the consultant was running late due to a problem on the Motorway, i would rather have waited an extra half hour to be seen properly and not rushed through like i was cattle at a market.

I have been to Moorfields for a second opinion and i am pleased with the outcome, i have been diagnosed with Blepharitis and evaporative dry eye and now have the correct eye drops and information for this common condition which is easly managed. Now my eye is after over a year begining to feel better as both lots of drops i was given was not necessary together and was to much, and the ointment was also no longer necessary, and i have been told that i can have the cataract done in my left eye contrary to what i was told by your Doctors and Consultants. Moorfields did confirm that i have Cornea Vascularisation but the main arteries going up the front of my eye are very fine and small so nothing to worry about at the moment.

This felt very much like da jue vue from the late 70's to early eighties when i first encountered a problem with my left eye, and it was Moorfields then that had to try and it sort out.

I thought that after all this time that this would be better but i was wrong and on that note i can assure you i will never ever use your hospital again as i have no faith in the abilities of the staff i saw.
