"I don't know what I would have done if he turned me away"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I went to a and e with severe diarrhoea and vomiting and unable to keep any fluids down. As I was discharged from hospital two days before with pneumonia, and was on a lot of medications, I wasn't able to keep any of these down which, if I waited, could have proven much more problematic.

I also have one kidney which is even more of an issue. Unfortunately triage nurse before taking any of my vitals said "you shouldn't be here" which was quite upsetting. Once he took vitals, he realised blood pressure was high and also had a fever, and luckily send me to doctor, who then took me in and I was given treatment needed.

I asked consultant on the ward if I did the right thing, and he said definitely. It was also 3 in the morning and there were barely any patients, so don't know what the problem with this triage nurse was. I don't know what I would have done if he turned me away.
