I was diagnosed with tongue cancer in November 2013, with regional mets. I have been under the care of the Maxillofacial team since then. Although I had radical surgery and heavy radiotherapy, I have always felt so well cared for with the team, both inpatient and clinics. The team is well led, always with both compassion and efficiency. I am listened to, my ongoing symptoms and difficulties are cared for (oral cancer is life-changing, there's no getting away from that). This team has been there for me with superb surgical and medical care, and has treated with true, genuine compassion at all times. They have never faltered. I am a psychiatric nurse by trade, and I can tell when care is genuine, and it is. They are champions. They give and maintain life, but more than that - they give hope. This has not been an easy journey for me, oral cancer is devastating, but I can honestly say I have never felt alone, I have always felt safe, well cared for, and they are, all of the team, a shining example of the best of medical care.
"MaxilloFacial, oral cancer care - truly superb"
