"I can see a big difference as a result of the therapy"

About: Specialist Therapy Services / Community Stroke Team – South Notts

(as a carer),

Last year my husband suffered a Stroke caused by Infective Endocarditis - consequently, and amongst other conditions, he was left with Aphasia and unable to speak.

During his 6 month stay in hospital in a critical condition - his speech and language therapy was very limited and almost impossible.

However, when he finally came home in July, we were referred to the Community Stroke Team.

This has proved to be invaluable, and a life line! whilst the speech is not what it used to be, over time I can see a big difference as a result of the therapy - there is still a lot of work to do, but it has proven that ongoing and continuous therapy is key for progression and to measure his improvements. Margaret and her team have been fantastic, dedicated and supportive and as a family we can't thank them enough.
