Hello, I received a call to inform me that my hysterectomy which was scheduled has had to be cancelled due to staff training, with only 2 days notice. Now, surely this staff training has been booked in advance? Why had I not been informed earlier...for example at my Pre op last week! Two days notice? Are you actually joking with me! My husband and I are self employed and have had to take 3 weeks off work. We also have a summer family holiday that I am probably going to have to cancel (as even if I get a date for 2 weeks time) I am only going to be 6 weeks post op...and I doubt very much I will be fit for a long haul flight! The knock on effect of this is immense! Due to the medication I am currently taking, which my GP will not fund anymore, as I have had it for the allocated time. Also due to the fact, it has an impact on my bones, as I have another medical condition which my bones are already affected by. I was assured by my consultant that this operation would go ahead without any cancellations. Now I am not an unreasonable person. I understand that emergency cases etc do have to take priority. However, being told my operation is cancelled due to staff training with just 2 days notice is not acceptable. I have spoken with PALS and I will be making a formal complaint.
"Cancelled hysterectomy with 2 days notice."
