I am 51 years old and I was admitted to Hexham General to have my left hip replaced due to osteoarthritis.
Like any patient about to embark on major surgery, I was worried and nervous.
Apart from a few complications with very low blood pressure and low iron levels due to loss of blood, the operation was a great success!
I was in hospital for 3 nights in order for my blood pressure to stabilise and to increase my Iron.
I have no hesitation in recommending my consultant and their team to any patient.
I also have high praise indeed for all the staff on Ward 3.
The standard of care received was most definitely 5*.
The dressing was due to be replaced after 2 weeks, however, it healed so well, a replacement wasn't needed.
It' was waterproof and didn't budge at all.
The wound is healing beautifully.
Once it's fully healed, I doubt you'll be able to see much of the scar st all.
Well done Hexham, I'm delighted we have such a good hospital close by.
