"RUH Teams saved my wife from dying through..."

About: Royal United Hospital / Accident and emergency

On Sunday May 7th.,my wife,Cecilia a collapsed with excruciating abdominal pain.I immediately dialled 999. The ambulance arrived within ten minutes !.Paramedics were splendid.Fifteen minutes later we arrived at A and E. In spite of being rushed off their feet,a doctor on duty realised that my wife was gravely I'll, and contacted a consultant who arranged for an immediate scan. The results indicated a twisted bowel with indication of dead tissue. Having stabilised her ,she was seen by a Consultant who promptly operated on her. The operation took six hours. She was then transfered to the HDU Team who were marvelous in their empathy and professionalism.Cecile a was then transferred to Poultney ward, who continued the dedicated care,in spite of being rediculously understaffed. As a result of the excellent care she received from all the staff involved,my wife's life was saved, and she was discharged home on Thursday 18th May.Having worked for the NHS for 14 years I have never seen such dedication, empathy and profesionalism as displayed by everyone involved. My family and I feel so humble and grateful. There are no words capable of expressing our heartfelt thanks.

We thank you for your comments about your wife's recent care and treatment at the RUH and will forward these on to the teams you have mentioned who, we are sure, will be very grateful for your kind words.

We do hope your wife is feeling better now and wish her a speedy recovery.
