Baby son sent over from out of hour doctor, with suspected sepsis. Rang paediatrician ahead, but when we arrived not sure where we should go so advised to go to A&E. Explained situation but told we had to be triaged. Wait not unacceptable but when we saw the nurse minimal observations done because my son was crying and very distressed. Burning with a pyrexia and tachycardic. Sent back out to waiting room where we sat for an hour (time being crucial in a suspected sepsis.) called to see someone who did not introduce themselves but I assume was a house officer. They did nothing except look down my sons throat. Disappeared said they would be back but never came back. A nurse came in shoved a bottle of antibiotics in my hand and said we could go. No explanation but said if he got worse to come back. (we live an hour away!) Rude disinterested staff, terrible communication. Left hospital with a son sicker than when we arrived. Thank goodness for my fantastic go who did follow up tests. I am very disappointed and would have expected a baby to have been treated better. Won't be attending here again if I can help it. I didn't self refer but was sent by a doctor and yet was made to feel as if we were wasting the nurse precious time. Poor care.
