Our son has a number of complex medical needs including a serious heart defect for which he will require open heart surgery in the next few months. He was recently admitted to Ward 15 at DGRI with a viral chest infection which resulted in a stay of almost three weeks. During this time he received excellent levels of care from the nurses, doctors and support staff who took every opportunity they could to ensure our time in hospital was as positive as possible. Each member of the team showed their commitment to NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s CORE values with actions which more often than not far exceeded our expectations.
When our son has his surgery he is likely to be discharged to this ward from a specialist centre some distance away. We have total confidence in the staff who will be charged with his care at what we expect to be a very difficult time. It would be unfair to name any particular member of staff as every one of them proved themselves to be dedicated, caring and compassionate. There were people who went far above and beyond the call of duty. They know who they are and we will be forever grateful for everything they did for our family.
"We have total confidence in the staff"
