I cannot say, in any way other than terrifying! I honestly believed that I would die in there.
In my opinion, due to appallingly disgraceful lack of basic care and treatment, I came in with a bleed from a stoma, and ended up with septicaemia, candida, brain fungal infection and in a coma! My family were told I was not going to survive, when they eventually took me from the general ward to the icu ward, after my family had been begging them to take me there.
I feel there was a catalogue of incompetence, and lack of duty and basic care, from being left lying in a bed full of faeces for hours with an abdominal wound covered in faeces! Because the nurse couldn't change me: too busy!
I could go on and on and on but to be honest I am getting to upset just writing this and haven't even scratched the surface of all that happened to me in there! My family who were over a 100 miles away from the hospital (as I was on holiday when I took ill) were at there wits end and where constantly complaining about the lack of care. I have now been left on TPN which is my only form of nutrition and am expected to be for some time yet. I will be making a formal complaint.
