It was suggested to me to come to the Dirrans Centre in Kilwinning by Shirley one of the OT's. The group that was suggested was, The Wellbeing Group. This is something I had never given a thought to, joining a group, but Shirley was so helpful, supportive and encouraging, I couldn't say no. I can't thank her enough for the help she has given me and the encouragement to try something new. The next week I went along. From the moment I walked in everyone was so lovely and welcoming. The facilities are fantastic. Shirley showed my husband and myself around the centre and told us about all things that I could take part in if I wished to do so. A walk in shower for people like myself to use, a quiet room if you feel you want to have some time on your own, and my favourite thing a massage chair, that I highly recommend its fabulous, oh and I don't want to forget about the kitchen were people of all different abilities can use with the support of staff. The lovely ladies who run the Wellbeing Group are supportive, understanding and very respectful of each person not to mention the encouragement that's passed about from staff and other members of the group. I have laughed so hard my jaw's hurt and also shed a few tears, but ever week I visit I leave feeling a little more positive. I was so low and felt so helpless when I joined the group. I know I still will have good days and also not so good days, but I now have a team of people and new friends I have made to help support and encourage me to try. Thank you to all at the Dirrans Centre I would truly have been lost without you.
