"Disgraceful Staff"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Neurology

Horrendous experience at RPH.After my consuitation at Neurophysiology my wife and I waited in out patients reception for 3 hours and when all other patients had left we were accosted by two nurses demanding to know which dept. I attended, which docter I had seen and asked to see my appointment letter. They disappeared with the letter when they came back they said there was no record of my consultation and which room was I in and asked for a description of the doctor I saw.The nurse then scutinised my appointment letter denying any knowledge of my wife asking them for directions to Neurophysiology when we arrived.Eventually a nurse from patient discharge intervened telling the other two that they were dealing Patient Transport for me and everything was in order.I don't know what the motive was for the two nurses interferring but it left my wife in a distressed state. The patient discharge nurse brought us a cup of tea and transport arrived;the end of a of very bad day which no visit to a hospital should be.

Thank you for sharing this account with us; we are disappointed because this experience falls very short of what we want and expect for our patients.

We will pass this on to the Neurology management for their reflection and would invite you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01772 522972 if you would like to discuss further.
