"OT speeded up my recovery"

About: Highbury Hospital

(as a service user),

Being in hospital is difficult as it is, without OT it would be worse.

The one to one Music sessions with Felix gave me lots of time to try all the musical instruments out and keep my hand in as well as playing along with somebody else. This kept my musicianship up and reminded me of being at home instead of an institute which helped me. The music appreciation sessions are pressure free and stimulate your mind. The cooking sessions meant I could keep my hand at cooking and learn new recipes like stuffed peppers; it was hard but rewarding and the breakfasts as well.

I enjoyed the Recovery writing sessions where we wrote down what we are aiming for when we get out, I will use this in the future.

Sometimes when I have nothing to do on the ward I just go to bed which is not very constructive. OT speeded up my recovery.

Thank you for the kind comments and feedback regarding Occupational Therapy input and therapy sessions available in the Maples department. It is always invaluable for us to understand which activities people find most meaningful and of benefit.

I will pass on your lovely comments to the team and we will continue to offer the sessions that you have found to be helpful. We wish you well for your ongoing recovery
