What I liked
My Aunt was transferred to this hospital whilst Paulton was being renovated. The ward is dreary and provides no stimulation at all for these elderly patients, thank goodness that the youngest patient was by the window - at least she could watch the traffic go past.
Why no TV or radio in the ward, there are no newspapers unless brought in by visitors. The nurses and carers are great - just as well the rest of the experience is terrible. This sort of environment cannot possibly aid recovery or rehabilitaion.
What could be improved
Provide a TV or Radio or both - put up some colourful pictures sealed in perspex so there is not problems with cleaning or infection control. Just give then something to look at, instead of them having to stare into space 24 hours a day.
Anything else?
I read on my way into the hospital that this site used to be a workhouse - say no more!
