"I cannot fault the response."

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Leicester Royal Infirmary / Neurology

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was having worrying seizure type activity last week. A particularly prolonged one caused me to call the ambulance. The care received from the team at Loughborough Station was fabulous. Despite all the bad press about waiting times, the ambulance was with her in less than 5 minutes.

In A&E at Leicester Royal, it was obvious staff were rushed off their feet. Yes, we waited around a lot but when my daughter went into another apparent seizure, they rushed in.

The outcome involved an admission to ward 24. Again, very clear the staff were busy but the service was excellent. She was seen by the lead neurologist on the Sunday, which was the first day after her admission. Not sure where the idea of no weekend working comes from! By the Monday all tests were completed and thankfully, it was nothing sinister.

As a nurse in the NHS myself and 27 year service, I understand the pressures. However, when I became a service user, as a parent, I cannot fault the response. I'd like to pas my thanks on to all the staff involved from the areas mentioned.

Dear Miss Scamp

Thank you for taking the time to write such kinds words and to share your experience with us at EMAS.

Whilst you are a nurse I recognise that as a parent this must have been a frightening time for you and your daughter, and so I am pleased that we were able to get to you quickly and that our ambulance crew were 'fabulous'.

If you are able to send the date, time and location for the 999 call to our Patient Experience team via emas.pals@nhs.net, they will be able to share your comments with the colleagues who were involved in our response.

In the meantime, we'll include an extract of your praise in our staff magazine.

Thank you once again, and I hope your daughter has made a good recovery.
