My Dad was on the Hyperacute Ward and I was informed he could deteriorate at any moment over the next two days. As Next if Kin and worried he might die, I called six hours after visiting for an update and I was told I'd called the wrong ward; they didn't recognise his name. Then I was quizzed in a curt manner as to why I was calling at such a late hour and "hadn't I seen him already today?". I'm a nurse myself and I'm shocked at the lack of compassion and empathy shown here. The old-school matrons had made us feel a nuisance during the day too. I'd never treat grieving families in this way, particularly on Nurses Day. I'm gutted that a difficult time was made worse by the nursing team.
"Nurses lack compassion - on Nurses Day of all..."
