"Blind man told to 'do it yourself' when he..."

About: Northwick Park Hospital / Urology

Today whilst waiting for my own appointment, I witnessed something that made me feel sick. A partially sighted man whom was escorted to the urology reception was told to sign in at the kiosk. The man, confused, asked for help but told "do it yourself" and who was after this request ignored, stumbled with his hand stretched out to find the kiosk. Standing in front of the water dispenser and obviously confused, another patient told the nurse the man could not see. The nurse told the man not to help as the guy had to learn to do it himself. The man helped the guy find the kiosk and was shouted at by the nurse, who had at that point stood up to shout.

The nurse/health care worker was clearly unable to cope, being short with a number of patients and who looked like they would have rather been anywhere else. If the NHS condones a nurse or anyone on their payroll to tell a blind man to do it himself, what chance does it have or surviving?

Why not just send the patients to the morgue, but not before getting them to sign in at the water dispenser first....

Terrible, disgusting, sick!
