"A & E"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Accident and emergency

The A&E triage was an absolute disgrace, I was met by a nurse that I could only discribe as insulting and pedantic, I'm a transgender male and I booked in with my new name as I have a new NHS number and identity for my new gender. The hospital are very aware of this as I've been going by this name for 3 years and made the relevant changes as stated on my medical notes. Yet I was referred to as she and my old name the entire time. The staff were shall we discribe very snotty towards me and when I was finally seen by a dr for whiplash and back injury I was taken to a very cluttered tiny room where casts were applied and made to sit on a bed that was absolutely covered in plaster. The consultation was rushed and no X-ray offered as I have a condition in my hips and that's where the pain was mainly radiating from. I am absolutely flabbergasted at the state of this service compared to around 6 months ago when I last visited

Dear Anonymous

I was very concerned to learn about your recent experience in our Emergency Department, this is certainly distressing, please be assured this is not what we would expect any of our patients to encounter. I have spoken with the Emergency Department Matron who would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail. Should you wish to do so please contact the Patient Experience Team on 01709 424461 in the first instance.
