What I liked

I had a replacement knee operstion in July 2008. The whole experience was caring, efficient and professional. The only blip was no fault of Barlboro Hospital but the out sourced patient care which failed to visit me when they said "because it was the holiday season and they were short staffed, and if I thought the wound was OK then it would be". In the end I had to return to the hospital to have the stitches removed which was not the usual procedure. I am hoping to have my other knee replaced in October 2010 and am quite distressed that the option may not be available for me. I hope this is all "a storm in a teacup" as it seems nonsensical to close a successful hospital with excellent feedback, no MRSA or other "dirty bugs"! I wish you the best of luck in your negitiations and hope that common sense will prevail. Hoping to be seeing you in October!

What could be improved

The home visits by the contracted out agency.

Anything else?

I would and do recommend Barlborough for any knee /hip operations
