"I cannot thank you all enough"

About: Herts Urgent Care / NHS 111 Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a parent/guardian),

My 4 year old daughter, Bea, woke up one Saturday morning with a squint, her left eye was pointing inwards. She seemed ok but we were worried that there was something more serious wrong so we rang 111 who booked us an appointment with an out of hours doctor at Stoke Mandeville, he checked Bea and booked us into PDU. Another doctor assessed her again and booked her for a MRI. The MRI results came back and we were booked to see the Eye department where an ophthalmologist looked her over again. Beyond the compassionate, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly staff what is amazing about this story is that from first call to discharge took less than two days. I cannot thank you all enough, you are amazing and to the female doctors thank you for being such wonderful role models to my daughter, she plays at being a doctor most days now.

Dear Burrages,

We are sorry to learn that your dear daughter Bea was showing symptoms that required further investigation. We can understand how worrying this must have been for you.

We are really pleased to learn that you felt your daughter was treated with compassion, and it is good to know that the staff were efficient and friendly.

We will share your lovely words with the Ophthalmology team for recognition and future encouragement to continue to provide a high level of compassionate care.
