"Mixed wards made me uncomfortable at Arrowe Park"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

(as the patient),

I spent a night in Arrowe Park Hospital on the 30th November. I was disgusted to find the CDU ward was not clean, there were items on the floor.

At 10.30pm I was moved to another ward (MAU), for the night. This also had items on the floor and were not moved and still there when I left the following morning.

I was disgusted to find that I was in a mixed ward and men were in the beds opposite to mine. I didn't feel comfortable and did not feel able to go to the bathroom comfortably as I had to get up and put my dressing gown on. Surely separate wards are a must for personal

and private reasons. Why should you feel uncomfortable when you are ill.

The nursing staff however were wonderful, they were so busy and never stopped, but something must be done about patients' dignity.
