"The efficiancy of the Paramedics, ..."

About: Kent & Sussex Hospital

What I liked

The efficiancy of the Paramedics, ambulance crew, nursing and doctors on my arrival at A & E

What could be improved

Communication. (see other comments.)

Anything else?

Medical, clinical and nursing care was excellent, but when my diagnosis provedto be less serious than first thought, organisation went downhill rapidly. I was transported to an incorrect department, abandoned in a corridor, finally taken back to A&E after I managed to stop a passing technician and drawn attention to my plight.A&E had not been informed of my misplacement, and thought all was well. The second attempt to transport me from A&E to the Ultrasound dept was successful, but the return trip was ridiculous. I waited for an hour in a wheelchair, and sometime after 5pm a taxi service arrived (non=English speaking who wanted to take me to somewhere caled "Hockley". I had no idea where Hockley is, . but was determined to return to A&E if only to get my clothes back. The taxi driver (organised I assume by someone in the Outpatients dept. was equally determined to get me into his cab, probably never to be seen again.

By now, everybody in Outpatients had gone home, leaving only the cleaner and an electrician, neither of which spoke whatever language the taxi driver was speaking.

I decided to walk back to A&E, (barefoot) but I did take the wheelchair with me in case I found any downhill stretches on the way. Up and down the lifts, a rest here and there, a final triumphant push and I was back, greeted by the nicest, kindest and lovliest nurse I have ever met.
