"X-ray department"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / General surgery

I was called into the X-ray department on short notice for an MRI scan. When I got there I was told I would have to drink nearly a litre if drink which contained a dye. I tried drinking but as I've been sick for nearly a month I couldnt keep any down. After an hour a nurse came out and in full view of othe people shouted that I was being stupid. Then the nurse said that I was to have an injection of dye to which I told them I couldn't have one as my veins had collapsed from giving blood the previous day and again the nurse talked to me like I was stupid. At that point I walked out as this was getting very upsetting.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience when you came for your MRI scan and that you felt you were not treated with dignity and respect by a member of staff.

We would ask that you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service to discuss your concerns so that they can be followed up and addressed by the team in radiology.
