It's quite well known that mental health clinics are not the nicest (due to budget cuts) but I think Fair Isle clinic takes the crown for being the worst. The staff are friendly but the building is literally falling to pieces. In each room, there are severe cracks on the walls, sandpaper-like carpets and insecure doors that make the most deafening squeak (which is awful for people like me with Autism).
The system to get in is very inconvenient as there isn't a reception. You have to go into a horrible room and speak through a P. A. system to be buzzed in.
I think the absolute worst part is the toilets. I experienced both toilets (accidentally walked into the ladies because the door was propped open hiding the sign) and each have their own problems. The ladies is very small and the plumbing is very outdated. The light doesn't work and there is a deafening fan. Cubicle door didn't have a functioning lock. The gents was flooded from a clogged up urinal and I couldn't imagine what the cubicle would've looked like inside. Yet again, no functioning light and a horrible-sounding "fan".
The waiting room is rather unsatisfactory as well. No lights and only about 5 seats. Part of the building is unused (I think I know why) and the signage is minimal. Car park is absolutely terrible and there is no policing for people parking in there to go and head to another place.
Step up your act and maybe I wouldn't want to have a fit when I get forced to get treated here. It's more depressing than anything else.
