"Wonderful student midwife"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Paediatrics

(as the patient),

My husband and I had our second child at the end of April.  He was a very quick labour and we were sent down to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness as a precautionary measure as he was chesty.

Everything was alright in the end, but whilst we were there, we bumped into a student midwife we had first come across a couple of years earlier when our daughter had just been born. Ashamedly, we only know her by her first name, Maddie. She was lovely and went out of her way to speak to us, spend time with us, reassure us and talk to us like we were human beings.

We both found her to already be a consummate professional, and a very affable, courteous, personable young lady who we both very strongly feel will make an excellent midwife when she qualifies this September, especially within the Community Midwifery arena. Our only hope is that her skills, potential and abilities are recognised by her tutors and colleagues.

Dear 'weemooley',

Thank you so much once again for the wonderful posting on Care Opinion.

As before I am responding on behalf of my Midwifery colleagues and have ensured that your posting has been shared widely especially to Maddie herself - her surname is Reedy. We will also ensure that her tutors at Robert Gordon's University, Aberdeen are also made aware.

It is just fantastic to have such wonderful feedback on a Student Midwife who is clearly well on her way to being a brilliant Midwife with all the attributes required to fulfil her role as a qualified Midwife. This means a great deal to Maddie and she was thrilled to learn of your posting.

My colleagues & I were delighted to hear that you had met up with Maddie, I think in Ward 10 at Raigmore and this had been such a positive and reassuring experience for both you and your husband.

Once again and on behalf of my colleagues may I wish you and your family all the very best for the future.

Best regards.
