"Unprofessional, ill mannered and condescending"

I attended today for very severe back pain. First encounter with the nurse, who took one look at me and their body language, tone of voice and disregard of a greeting set the course for their continued ill mannered patient care.

I was scolded to coming to A & E on a bank holiday and was questioned as to why I did not arrange an appointment with my GP.

The nurse had made their mind up, based of course on their professional opinion with no examination that I was suffering sciatica.

The nurse continued to tell me how A & E was only for urgent conditions (except for the waiting room full of other back pain, headaches and flu symptoms, they were ok)

I finally got to see a doctor despite the nurse' expressed disdain in that they felt I did not need to see one. Unfortunately, said GP approached on said nurse painted perception and after a quick prod and patronising dialogue, i was sent on my way.

Arrowe Park Hospital A & E needs to work on it's bedside manner.
