"No wheelchair available for my mother with a broken neck"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Trauma and Orthopaedics

(as a carer),

Mum had an appointment for X-ray. She had sustained a C2 fracture(BROKEN NECK).

Arrived at hospital left mum in car to obtain wheelchair, mum had not been outside for two weeks because of injury. went to help desk and asked for wheelchair was then directed to the other side of hospital but to no avail, went back and asked again where can I get wheelchair as mum can't walk without real difficulty, then to go to X-ray department, again no wheelchairs, told to go to porters desk.

I met a porter and I asked if they had a wheelchair for my elderly mother they said NO, I then asked could they source one maybe by phone they said NO. I told them my mother was in car could not possibly walk the distance from car park to X-ray department. They then said if you want a wheelchair walk round hospital and see if you can get one. I then realised I was getting nowhere with this person. I went to car park to get mum and disgustingly my poor mother had to walk to X-ray. There is more to this story and I will be taken this matter further. We were subjected to a could not care attitude from this member of staff.
